Requirements

Location: This role is based in the UK. They are a fully remote team distributed from London/Nigeria (GMT) to Kenya (EAT).

About you
  • You’ve got a portfolio of well-crafted, impactful work that solves real problems for real people.
  • You’re a natural collaborator, designing in the open, leveraging other functions’ expertise and taking them on the journey with you.
  • You understand that good design is often a journey to identify the right thing to build, using early concepts and prototypes to help build conviction along the way
  • You have strong visual design skills, and a passion for high-quality fit and finish. You’ve worked with design systems to produce beautiful and functional design that scales.
  • You practice evidence-based design, and can rationalise your decisions clearly and credibly.
Bonus (but not required)
  • Experience leading other designers, providing feedback and directing work
  • Previous work experience in a consumer-focused tech organization
  • Familiarity with creating interactive prototypes
This isn't you if
  • You need top-down direction. They operate extremely autonomously so you’ll be expected to determine the highest impact areas to work on, collaborating with your direct manager to execute tasks.
  • You need to work directly alongside another designer or two (they don't have them - yet). While they work closely as a team and have rituals to encourage collaboration and feedback, they rarely have the luxury of multiple designers working on the same product squad.
  • You haven't worked in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary product team shipping work to a large scale customer-base.
  • All designers are expected to be involved in the delivery details, everything from finessing UI polish with engineers through to roll-out and experimentation strategy.
