Bureau for Visual Affairs are looking for someone experienced in Web and Digital Design with a strong sense of typography to join their team of 12 at their office in Borough, London. The role’s main responsibility is working alongside the design and development team in the delivery of various digital projects — ranging from websites and digital apps to occasional branding projects. The successful applicant should have experience in prototyping to delivery but will be specifically focused on designing user interfaces.

Apart from their highly visible output, they pride themselves on a good work / life balance (working hours 10am–6pm) and providing breakfast daily :-)

At Bureau for Visual Affairs we plan, design and develop user-experiences across the culture, fashion and lifestyle sectors. We focus on what defines today’s institutions and brands: experience, content and relevancy. Working with the culture sector has taught us to generate engagement from content-driven user journeys. Our understanding of brands has taught us to connect brand voice with content and commerce. We develop using a best-of-breed combination of open technologies, build around modularity and continuous research. Our clients include Damien Hirst, National Theatre, The Tate, ShowStudio, Whistles, Jo Malone and ASOS (COLLUSION).

Role Requirements:

  • 3+ years agency or design studio experience
  • Good understanding of design for digital media, from UX to UI
  • Work comfortably in Adobe CS (especially Photoshop and XD) and Sketch
  • Strong understanding of typography and information hierarchy
  • Experience of using web tools such as Invision
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Articulate design rationale skills
  • Attending and leading meetings with clients
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

Bonus:

  • Ability to prototype interaction design via Principle, After effects, etc.
  • An understanding of front end languages (HTML, CSS, Javascript)
