The senior graphic designer will be an integral part of the Shinola creative team. You will work alongside a team of passionate individuals to create, hone and evolve the Shinola brand. As part of an inter-disciplinary team responsible for the branded look, feel and content creation for the brand. They will produce world class designs with an incredible attention to detail that inspire people and invite them into their world through beauty, craft and creativity.

  • Develop and champion great ideas. All sorts of ideas. Big ideas. Little ideas. Crazy ideas! 
  • Collaborative spirit. You will work across departments to develop ideas that are rooted in a strong brand narrative and timeless design. 
  • Channel and apply the distinctive Shinola brand through a variety of mediums:  
  • Packaging 
  • New platform and product launches 
  • Catalogs and Mailers 
  • Digital – emails, landing pages, gifs, video, paid campaigns 
  • Presentation Decks 
  • Style Guides and Build Kits for outside vendors and partners 
  • Internal documentation of style 
  • Harmonize with other creative contributors (designers, photographers, videographer, retouchers, art director, copywriters, social media, industrial designers, packaging engineer) to create amazing work that’s worthy of their brand. 
  • Attend weekly cross-functional meetings to propel projects forward. Take the lead if need be.  
  • Be able to take in complex information and deliverables and  
  • Take pride in presenting & explaining your work—in email or face-to-face settings. 
  • Revel in the details. Whether pixels or print, you can spot the difference between light and medium font weights, your keen eye and passion for color theory can spot inconsistencies, widows and orphans are your nemesis. 
  • Work with a sense of urgency and deadline—and be willing to quickly pivot based on new information or feedback.
  • Prioritize your workflow to juggle new tasks. 
What You’ll Bring
  • BA/BFA college degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design or Advertising Design is highly preferred 
  • 5-10 years design experience some of which should be in an agency or studio 
  • Deep Knowledge of print production and best practices 
  • Knowledge of e-commerce and digital marketing best practices 
  • Portfolio showcasing exceptional finished pieces as well as conceptual work 
  • You can see it and do it, but you are humble about it… 
  • You are as comfortable building a paper dummy as you are building a video timeline 
  • A passion for culture, lifestyle, fashion, design and aesthetics, but you can develop your own vision 
  • You consume the competitive landscape and know what is and what will be happening 
  • A positive approach to your work and those around you 
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment but are always thoughtful in your choices 
  • Relentless passion for what you do and how you do it

  • Experience in Illustration 
  • Experience on photo and video sets
