Principal Designer

Job Description

Course Studio is on the hunt for an experienced Principal Designer to help creators connect with their audiences through best-in-class design and product development. This role is key to what we do, blending brand, web, and digital product design to create impactful online presences and ways for influencers and creators to monetize their knowledge.

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about design and gets how crucial it is for building trust and engaging audiences. You should be comfortable with both big-picture strategy and hands-on design work, making sure every touchpoint delivers a cohesive and compelling brand experience.

As our Principal Designer, you’ll lead the charge in creating brand, web, and product experiences for luminaries such as Esther Perel, Colin & Samir, Shan Boodram and Sophia Amoruso. Building relationships with these people and allowing them to trust in our recommendations.

We’re a remote company based in Canada, and we welcome candidates located between PST and EST timezones for this role. Depending on the candidate, we're open to working with someone on a longer-term contract. Most of our clients are in North America, providing a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

  • Participating in retros to identify opportunities for improvement in our process and delivery
  • Vetting and onboarding contractors and FT employees when needed, as the team grows

What we’re looking for

  • 7+ years of design experience, ideally in an agency setting
  • A portfolio that exhibits strong strategy and quality execution across a range of project types — brand, web, product
  • Confidence in leading discovery exercises, workshop activities, and sprint reviews
  • Comfort in working on your own or in a team, communicating directly with stakeholders and collaborating with other designers
  • Strong communication skills and ability to articulate your design rationale to colleagues and clients alike
  • Proficiency with tools like Figma, Webflow, and Fram
  • Desire for feedback and continuous growth for you and your teammates
  • Bonus — Motion design skills and experience

What we offer in return

  • The chance to play a part in the genesis and evolution of important creator brands, such as Esther Perel, Colin & Samir, Shan Boodram and Sophia Amoruso
  • The opportunity to work closely with experienced design leadership and get dedicated growth support
