About the Role & Team
The Social Media Designer, Content Creator - Disney Publishing is responsible for crafting content for Disney Publishing’s social channels including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Snapchat. The Social Media Designer will create social media campaigns, edit videos and photos, design motion graphics, and develop global toolkits. You will work seamlessly with the Social Media Manager, Content Strategy to ensure outstanding deliveries to cultivate robust relationships with business partners, authors, and illustrators.
In Disney Publishing we span Disney franchises and imprints, including Hyperion, Disney Press, National Geographic, and Lucasfilm! The Social Media Designer will report directly to the Sr. Manager, Design within Disney Publishing.
This is a Part-Time role based in New York, NY.
What You Will Do
Every single day in the Social Media Designer role is different! On any one day, you might:
- Be an expert on the latest social media tactics and platform features including overall best practices for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and more.
- Develop and implement owned organic social media content across platforms for Disney Publishing.
- Work with creative supervisors and marketing managers to build a wide range of designs for social media. Formats include motion graphics, short form video, static digital assets, animated gifs, etc.
- Translate project details and creative direction into concepts or design solutions.
- Work independently with production department(s) to develop graphics within technical specifications.
- Deliver a high standard of efficiency, consistency, accuracy, and creativity.
- Maintain an organized file structure
- Collaborate with partners, management and teams to establish processes to further improve efficiency and performance for key partners
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Proficient in using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, and Illustrator.
- Creative individual with a strong attention to detail
- Able to present a portfolio that demonstrates your creativity and design skills, including a strong sense of typography and layout—demonstrating talent in design, composition, and color.
- Ability to work with time sensitive tasks delivering quality in a fast-paced environment
- Motivated work ethic, independent, positive, receptive and enthusiast.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Keynote
- Knowledge of JIRA system
Education
- College degree preferred
